About

What is MixedContent?

Mixed Content is the online home of Colin Brumelle, your typical web designing, guitar slinging, PHP/Ruby ninja, outdoor enthusiast kinda guy. I’m a founder of Rilli (http://rilli.com) a new startup that aims to change the way people interact with their city, and their friends. I also take on select freelance projects, usually using Ruby or Drupal. In the past, I was a partner at web 2.0/Drupal startup Bryght. I’ve also played guitar professionally for over 10 years, touring and releasing numerous CD’s, and I love to combine my passion of music with my knowledge of technology. In the distant past, I have also worked at a number of Post Secondary Institutions (including BCIT, Emily Carr Institute, and Simon Fraser University) tinkering with various forms of web geekery in small windowless rooms.

What’s with the name MixedContent anyway?

MixedContent takes its name from an XML element that contains both child and text nodes. But more to the point, I liked the image the name suggests. I have many interests, from PHP and CSS coding, to chaos theory, to music and design, and I thought that MixedContent is an apt name for these divergent topics. When seen in the light of podcasting, flickr posts and all, the name ‘MixedContent’ might even be prophetic.

Where are you located?
